Pre-workout smoothie

  • 1 cup oat milk

  • 1/2 cup cold brew coffee

  • 1/2 banana or 1 date

  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao

  • 1 tbsp hempseeds

  • 1 tsp BCAA (optional)

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed until really smooth.

  2. Pour smoothie into a glass and enjoy!

Three magical Mylks
Strawberry cashew mylk

Make your own plant milk flavored with chocolate, vanilla & strawberry!

Plant milks are delicious, nutritious and super easy to make! The only thing you’ll need is a blender and a nut milk bag.

Maca oat milk

Maca & Vanilla Oat milk

  • 1,5 cups oats

  • 1 tsp maca powder

  • 4 dates (without the pits)

  • 1 vanilla bean

  • pinch salt

  • 4 cups of filtered water

Directions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender. You can put the whole vanilla bean in.

  2. Pour the milk through the nut milk bag, squeeze as much liquid as possible. Serve straight away and enjoy! If you store the milk, it is best stored in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge (about 5 days.)

Chocolate & hazelnut mylk

Chocolate & Hazelnut Mylk

  • 1,5 cups hazelnuts

  • 3,5 cups filtered water

  • 4 dates (without pits)

  • 2 tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

  • pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender. (FYI: Hazelnuts do not have to be soaked because they don’t have enzyme inhibitors.) Blend until really smooth.

  2. Pour the milk through the nut milk bag, squeeze as much liquid as possible. Serve straight away and enjoy! If you store the milk, it is best stored in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge (about 5 days.)

Strawberry Cashew Mylk

Strawberry Cashew Mylk

  • 1,5 cups soaked cashews

  • 4 cups filtered water

  • 1 cup strawberries

  • 2 dates (without pits)

  • 1 tsp coconut oil

  • 1 tsp pitaya powder (optional, just for color)

  • pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients in a high speed blender. (If you have sensitive a stomach: soak the nuts overnight to give the milk a smoother taste and get rid of enzymes that are hard to digest. Rinse the nuts properly from the water that they’ve soaked in and blend with fresh water.)

  2. Pour the milk through the nut milk bag, squeeze as much liquid as possible. Serve straight away and enjoy! If you store the milk, it is best stored in a glass jar or bottle in the fridge (about 5 days.)

What does adaptogen mean?

Adaptogens are natural substances like herbs and plant extract that increases the body's ability to resist the damaging effects of stress and promote or restore normal physiological functioning.

Think of adaptogens like a thermostat. The keep your body’s stress response at a desirable level, much like the way a thermostat keeps the temperature from becoming too high or too low. They’re good for you all the time, not only when you have a high level of stress.

I'm not really stressed, one might think. I'm sure you feel that way and it might be true for some people but most of us are kind of semi "stressed" all day long. Think about stress as what is commonly called your “fight or flight” response. Today, most of us don’t have to worry so much about lions or other obvious dangers like that. However, most modern-day stresses are ongoing. Like sitting at your comuter and working on a project with a deadline. When your adrenal system remains in a constant active state, it throws your body out of balance. Constant stress can create a lot of imbalances in your body, especially on your digestive system and energy levels.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 zucchini
  • 2 medjool dates
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 3 tbsp raw cacao
  • 1 tsp maca powder
  • 1/2 tsp ashwagandha*
  • 1/2 tsp reishi
  • 1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • pinch pink Himalayan salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. If you prefer it sweeter add a banana or another date. If you prefer it thinner add some almond or oat milk. This serving serves two small glasses or one big.

* Ashwagandha Dangers for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Plain and simple, please do not use Ashwagandha during pregnancy. There is evidence that it could cause miscarriages. I don’t know enough about the effects of using this herb during breastfeeding. It may be unsafe. If you are trying to become pregnant or if you have had previous miscarriages in your life, Ashwagandha is not for you. It's natural and safe to use if you're not taking any medication. But with that being said. It's very powerful.

The small adaptogen pantry. This choloate smoothie is a pretty basic smoothie that I drink quite often. I sometimes make it green with plenty of spinach and kale instead of raw cacao, but one thing that's always the same is my adaptogens. These are 4 of the adaptogens that I use on a daily basis.

Maca

Some women get life-changing results from maca and others feel worse. If you are thinking of trying it or have tried it in the past with mixed results, try different phenotypes (colors of maca) and change up the amounts, dose can make a big difference. Phenotypes, the different color types of maca contain some different active ingredients which trigger specific health benefits. Maca is a nutrient-rich root that is known to relief PMS, help with libido stimulation and balance Peri- and Menopause.

Reishi

Also known as the “mushroom of immortality,” reishi is a Chinese herbal mushroom that comes in six different types. The most potent variety, red reishi, is used for it's immune-boosting properties. Reishi mushroom benefits the liver and heart organs foremost. Reishi is able to down-regulate alpha-glucosidase, the enzyme responsible for breaking down starches into sugars. This magic mushroom has also shown to help with kidney problems and wound healing in diabetics.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda (a form of alternative medicine based on Indian principles of natural healing). Many of it's health benefits are attributed to the high concentration of withanolides, which have been shown to fight inflammation and tumor growth. In a controlled study of chronically stressed adults, the group that supplemented with ashwagandha had significantly greater reductions in cortisol than the control group. The group taking the highest dose had a 30% reduction, on average.

Ceylon cinnamon

Cinnamon is known to have an anti-diabetic effect. It helps lower blood sugar levels and also can improve sensitivity to the hormone insulin, which is the vital hormone needed for keeping blood sugar levels balanced.

I try to avoid too much fructose in my smoothies. As you can see in the recipe, the base of this smoothie is zucchini instead of the more common base of bananas. What I love about zucchini as a smoothie base is that it's completely natural in flavor but still creamy in texture. So it's perfect for those of you who doesn't really like that banana flavor that overshadows pretty much anything.

I also try to add as much good fats to my smoothies as possible. Nut butters, seeds, full fat coconut milk and algae oils.

I don't drink coffee and I rarely drink Matcha. I had a short period this summer when I got completely Matcha addicted and had it each and every day for about a month. Even though I enjoy the taste of this wonderful green tea I still don't like the fact that it has caffeine.

This Moringa latte is great for those days when you crave the comfort of a warm beverage,
but prefer to keep it caffeine-free. Moringa is a green leaf that's considered a super food!
It contains a lot of antioxidants and is an excellent source of iron and magnesium. It’s jam-packed with Vitamin A and Vitamin E. Moringa has so many benefits but is especially good for healthy skin and the immune system. It's also supposed to help with stress and fatigue.

  • 1 tbsp Moringa powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 2 cups oat milk or any other plant milk

DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine Moringa powder and all the other ingredients in the bottom of a saucepan.
  2. Heat the milk gently and use a whisk to make it nice and frothy.
  3. Serve and Enjoy!

Hey guys! This week's project has been super fun! I got the chance to work with a new brand here in Sweden, Pure Brazilian Coconut Water! They asked me to create a few different recipes that would be cool and refreshing for the summer! 

I wanted to make something really simple. Summer for me is all about enjoying and relaxing. These recipes that I've created are actually really easy to make and will cool you down plenty during the hottest summer days!

I decided to make a frozen coconut water Margarita, a creamy pink coconut popsicle and a tropical mango sorbet float!

3 Refreshing coconut water drinks & ice creams

Frozen coconut water Margarita

Yield: makes 2 cocktails Time: 15 minutes

(Not BOOZY)

  • 2-4 frozen raspberries
  • 1 bottle pink coconut water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons agave syrup
  • 1 1/2 cups ice

To make BOOZY add:

  • 3 tbsp tequila
  • 2 tbsp Cointreau
  • 2 tbsp agave syrup

Instructions

Toss all ingredients in a mixer or blender and blend for about 30 seconds to a minute until the ice reaches a kind of slushy texture.

This frozen coconut Margarita is just slightly sweet and with a hint of coconut and lime. The added raspberries is just to heighten the beautiful rosy hue that is already naturally occurring in the raw coconut water. With very few ingredients you can mix together a perfectly refreshing drink for you and your friends while you hang out by the pool or relax in the backyard. This Margarita can be made with or without alcohol and is as good either way!

Pink coconut popsicles

Yield: makes 10-14 small ice creams Time: 4 hours

  • 1 can cream of coconut (250 ml)
  • 1/2 bottle of pink coconut water (200 ml)
  • 1 tbsp agave
  • lime zest from 1 lime
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of natural beet or pitaya powder (optional, just for some added pink color)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients into a large bowl, whisk until fully mixed together.
  2. Pour the blend into the popsicle mold and insert popsicle sticks. Freeze for at least four hours. When you’re ready to pop out the popsicles, run warm water around the outsides of the molds for about ten seconds and gently remove the popsicles. Enjoy immediately.
  3. (optional) Drizzle some melted white or dark vegan chocolate on top of the popsicles to make them even yummier and prettier!

These popsicles are seriously easy to make! No blender or ice cream machine needed! If you don't have popsicle molds at home you can always use small glasses instead and pop in a paper straw instead of the wooden stick.

Mango sorbet coconut water floats

Did you know that the float was "invented" when a guy ran out of cold ice for the flavored drinks he was selling and so he used vanilla ice cream from a neighboring vendor instead and thus invented a new drink he called "floats"!

Yield: makes about 8 small scoops of sorbet Time: 10-20 minutes

  • 500 g of frozen mangoes

Instructions

Simply run your frozen mango bits through a juicer with the homogenizing function, the frozen fruit transforms into a miraculously smooth, ice-cream like sorbet. For this technique you'll only need a juicer and frozen fruit.

or

Blend the frozen mangoes in a food processor until smooth and let it set in the freezer if needed.

Lastly, pour some chilled Pure Brazilian Coconut Water on top of the sorbet and enjoy in the sun!

The coconut water is of course unsweetened, but still has some natural sugar. This sorbet though added plenty of sweetness and pairs perfectly with the tropical flavor of the coconut water. SO refreshing, tasty, and pretty!

As some of you know I have been cutting down on all kinds of sugars lately, even the natural ones coming from fruits and berries. I do feel a lot better after being pretty much sugar and fruit free for about 2 months. I can gladly say that I rarely crave sweet things now and when I start adding fruits and berries back to my diet I'll be doing it not more than once or twice a week.

This is for all the chocolate freaks out there! If you simply can't have enough of chocolate in all shapes and forms, then you'll love this sweet and salty smoothie with raw chocolate sauce and salted caramel!

This smoothie is a real treat! I mean it, it's not the kind of smoothie you start of your regular morning routine with... This is perfect for kids and adults that are really in the mood for something super delicious and decadent but still want to avoid that white sugar! This will definitely do the job if youre having friday night chocolate cravings!

The caramel is a blend of dates, nut butter and tahini. If you want to make it nut free, then simple use the double amount of tahini instead of the nut butter or exchange the nut butter for any other seed butter. The taste of the caramel will vary due to what type of nut butter or seed butter you'll use, but will still taste delicious! My favorite combo is white tahini and roasted almond butter, that makes the caramel really delicious and with the exact right amount of nutty flavour...

Salted caramel

  • 6-8 fresh dates
  • 1 tbsp nut butter
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • pinch salt

Chocolate smoothie

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 cup plant based milk
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 shot of espresso (optional)
  • 2-4 tbsp raw cacao

Raw chocolate sauce

  • 4 tbsp agave or maple syrup
  • 4 tbsp raw cacao
  • pinch salt

DIRECTIONS

  1. Make the salted caramel by blending all ingredients in a food processor. (Don't forget to remove the seeds from the dates)
  2. Make the chocolate smoothie by blending all ingredients in a high speed blender until really smooth.
  3. Make the raw chocolate sauce by blending or simply mixing the syrup with the raw cacao.
  4. Assemble the smoothies by dividing the caramel in two medium large glasses. Then pour the chocolate sauce on the inside of the glass. Pour the smoothie in the glass and use a straw or a spoon to create a nice swirl on the inside of the glass.
  5. Enjoy!

The raw chocolate sauce is a nice addition to this already very chocolatey smoothie. But you can also skip it as well as go all in with it. Drizzle it on top and let it fall down the edges of the glass to make it look absolutely over the top! Haha, it can get really messy! Just so you know...
